In 2014 The Training Collective was formed as a spin-off company out of multi-award winning company The Creative Collective, to focus solely on training. We are still ‘sister’ companies, and work closely together as we believe offering a service and sharing knowledge is a powerful combination for business success and that our offerings are symbiotic. We also share staff, premises and a continual exchange of knowledge in terms of what is the latest and greatest in technology and digital marketing trends. Some of our clients start with training (with The Training Collective), and then engage us for our services. Others start with services, and identify a need for training. I completed the GUTS intake 2 and recently launched my new website!! I learnt a great deal from this course and as it is my first attempt at designing a website, I realise that it is a work in progress and that I still have a long way to go. But great that I could even have a go at this!
The training I received during the WordPress for Business session has helped demystify the nuts and bolts of my website. I now feel that I have the knowledge to make some ongoing changes to the website to help keep it relevant. There is obviously so much more that I need to know, but this session was a great start and I look forward to further training in the future.
Firstly, I would like to congratulate you on a terrific course. Its flexibility became my saviour many times. Initially, my intention upon doing the course was to “fill in the gaps”. But I learnt more than that -so much more…. I have delved into social media, and found myself enlightened with the privacy settings! … I had used Google Analytics before, with no real understanding, until your e-lesson and webinar. Both were invaluable for great website resources and simple explanations of the complexities of the analysis. I have much greater knowledge and understanding of web marketing, both paid and unpaid, and am introducing myself to mail chimp and pay per click as time allows. It was great to bounce ideas off my mentor, who was actually fantastic at positive constructive feedback as the site progressed. Giving me time on the phone, as well as the Facebook lounge and private e-mails, kept me on track. This program has given me a great on line toolbox. You ought to see my bookmarks page!!! Yvette Adams is a serial entrepreneur having started 6 businesses from scratch, the first a newspaper when she was just 17, and 2 of which she has since sold.
She is the founder and co-owner of The Creative Collective, a creative agency specialising in digital marketing; the founder and owner of spin off company The Training Collective, a training organisation dedicated to providing people with digital skills via online and offline training awardshub.com, an online portal for business owners wanting to find business awards they may be able to enter, and to gain assistance in the preparation of their submissions.
She won the ICT Woman of the Year at the iAwards in 2013 and the Commonwealth Bank Business Owner category at the Telstra Business Womens in Queensland in 2010.
In 2015 she was recognised for making a significant contribution to science and innovation in Queensland and included on the department’s Queensland Science and Innovation Champion Hall of Fame and in 2016 she was named as a Digital Champion by Queensland Government.
Yvette is a twice published author, and is regularly called on as a media commentator and keynote speaker, facilitator and MC for events all over Asia Pacific. Her most recent book was published in 2014 and is titled ‘No Kidding – Why Our Kids Know More About Us Than Technology and What We Need To Do About It’.
Most recently she has been presenting a new show called Young Entrepreneurs which can be viewed on BRiN, the world’s first business advisor in your pocket, which already has over 9,000 downloads from 74 countries.
PENNY BOYER - TRAINING MANAGER
Penny is the company's longest standing staff member having been with both The Creative Collective and The Training Collective since 2008. As such she has experience in a wide range of roles and responsibilities.
Penny has an extensive background in business administration and accounts in both New Zealand and Australia in various industries. These include stints in the health industry, working for Government departments, media, and accounting consultancy firms.
After returning part time from having 2 children, Penny is back in business. Her main focuses currently involve co-ordinating trainings, accounts, social media management and other online marketing.

Odette has over 15 years experience in Business Management and Event Management where she has worked in a broad range of industries including banking, not-for-profit and retail. Her recent role saw her as the Senior Event Manager for the Sunshine Coast signature Christmas Carol Events, Carols on Kings Beach and Carols at Cotton Tree. These events are much loved and anticipated by the local community and expect in excess of 12000 people in attendance.
Odette is currently in her final year of a Bachelor of Business at the University of the Sunshine Coast where she is majoring in Marketing and Human Resource Management. Odette also has a Diploma of Events.
Her love for all things social media and particularly training people in these areas, make a great addition to our team. She hopes to one day become one of our leading digital trainers.
BEC KENNEDY - TRAINING CO-ORDINATOR
Bec joined our team 2yrs ago as a training co-ordinator to help manage the extensive growth due to the increase of interest in digital skills training. She then took some time off on maternity leave with her third child and has returned one day a week.
Bec helps to make contact with clients, manage and co-ordinate trainings along with assisting in social media management, website updates and HR. Although only in one day a week, she is a valuable part of our team.
TARA KINGI - SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST / TRAINER / SPEAKER
While completing a Bachelor of Business, Fine Arts, Marketing and Drama in 2013, Tara Kingi worked as a Program Coordinator for The Real Me program and also as a Seminar presenter for Elevate Education delivering one-hour seminars to up to 50 students at one time.
After completing her studies, Tara enthusiasm to learn and further enhance her knowledge and skills lead her to attaining a Google Analytics Qualification online and an internship with Performance Frontiers.
Following this, Tara went on to attain a position as a Content Marketing Strategist for a marketing and advertising agency in Brisbane.
Today Tara is a real digital marketing all rounder, with knowledge in areas such as social media marketing, strategy and a particular interest in Facebook & Instagram and connecting brands with influencers.
ANDREW MARKS - WORDPRESS | WEB DESIGN | CODING SPECIALIST/TRAINER/SPEAKER
Andrew Marks is a self-confessed nerd. He’s been working online almost since before there was an online, and with almost 20 years on web development and online marketing experience, he is a wealth of knowledge and experience. When he isn’t training, Andrew works as a freelance developer, helping small business get online, and designing custom solutions for the big end of town.
What makes Andrew such a popular presenter is his ability to explain otherwise complex internet concepts in layman’s terms. Participants in his workshops and webinars always leave inspired by the new skills they’ve learned.
