In 2012, our sister company The Creative Collective were contracted by Broadband Today, an amalgamation of 125 councils across Australia and New Zealand to develop and deliver a program aimed at increasing the digital skills of businesses across Australia. Through this partnership we ran approximately four intakes of the program which was a combination of live webinars and access to PDF resources and a members portal.
We then continued to run this program for several years as a purely online program, and today over 1000 participants have completed the program.
Based on the feedback we get from past participants and the hundreds of other businesses we empower each year with digital skills, we have decided to relaunch the Get Up To Speed Program in 2020, bringing back the live components which made it so special, and combining all the best of the extensive range of products and services our companies The Training Collective and The Creative Collective now have on offer, helping businesses with audits, strategies, regular mentoring, webinars, lives and more!

OUR PRIVATE FACEBOOK GROUP
No matter which program level you sign up to you will be eligible to join our Private Facebook group which already boasts 600 people who have already engaged in some form of our training. Maybe you are already a member and active? When you commence the Get Up to Speed program with us this group will become even more important. It’s your haven to share your successes, ask questions, commiserate and get help at those random moments you need it.
UPCOMING BYO WORKSHOPS
We offer a range of two hour, half day and full day format BYO Laptop/Device sessions publicly in many of the major cities of Australia. The sessions are hands on and interactive where participants work through a set course outline where ever you train with us in Australia. Participants love these intimate sessions where they leave having achieved something and gain greater confidence by applying what they learn, as they learn.
No matter which program package you sign up to, you will be eligible to join our live webinars + access the recordings. These will take place monthly on a week day evening (likely Tuesdays), around 730pm, and all sessions will be recorded so if for any reason you can’t make a session you simply access the recording within the week once it is made available. The sessions will feature our team and industry experts on set topics for approximately 45 minutes and allow for 10-15 minutes of questions via text chat or in some cases, you will be invited to speak live on the session to ask your topic relevant questions or share your own experiences and tips.
No matter which program level you sign up to, you will be eligible for an initial consult with one of our experienced consultants to get you started on the best foot possible. We have a range of consultants available, so subject to what you would like to focus on, you can select people with different areas of expertise. This session can be booked by you online at a time that suits you and is reserved exclusively for you to have a live one on one online, or in person where geography and time permits. It’s your chance to share where your business is at, what your current challenges and opportunities are, and to gain professional input on what it might be best for you to focus on to improve your business, and what your options are for getting help where you may need it.
Our Standard Level package participants will be eligible for up to x5 one-on-one mentoring sessions and our Solid Level package participants will be eligible for up to x10 one-on-one mentoring sessions. You will be able to book these at a date and time which suits you, and they can be held online or in person, subject to your location and if geography and time permits. These sessions will ensure you are ‘not alone’ and can stay on track with program content and progressing your business, with full support from people who can help you on your journey.
It’s always helpful to get a professionals opinion on your current state of affairs which is why our Standard level program participants will be eligible to choose an audit of their choice (website audit/seo audit/digital ads audit/social audit) and our Solid level program participants will be eligible for an audit on all three aspects of their business!
Audits allow our team to analyse your business at a deeper level by using their years of expertise and professional software to check out your current set up, and come back to you with some observations and recommendations on how things could be improved. Should you require services to improve your current set up or approach thereafter, our team will be made available to perform work for you on a discounted hourly rate for program participants.

Yvette Adams is a serial entrepreneur and a multi-award winning business woman including winning the ICT Woman of the Year at the iAwards in 2013 and the Commonwealth Bank Business Owner category at the Telstra Business Womens Awards in Queensland in 2010. She has started six businesses, has sold two, acquired one, and currently runs three – The Creative Collective – a digital marketing agency specialising in social media; The Training Collective – a digital skills training organisation, and awardshub.com – an online portal which helps people find business awards to enter.
Katrina is a partner of our sister company The Creative Collective. Her natural entrepreneurial and leadership skills have seen her working in management and supervisory roles since 16, and her passion for business and logical insights adds enormous value to the businesses she works with. Her extensive experience and knowledge in social media & digital strategy is certain to get you on track!
Heather Porter got her start managing events globally for some of the world’s top speakers such as Tony Robbins. She regularly speaks about growing your business online for audiences that range from local councils to small business training companies. Plus she is 1 of 8 Facebook Community Trainers in Australia and New Zealand and teaches the “Facebook Community Boost” program to small businesses.
Andrea has had a long career on the Sunshine Coast in a variety of client services/account manager roles at several well known agencies, and was doing some freelancing before joining The Creative Collective in January 2018. With a special interest and skillset in brand management, Andrea is also strong in photography + video production. She has worked with many high profile brands on major rebrand + marketing projects including Shine Lawyers and a range of property development projects including many with Stocklands.
Bec divides her time across The Creative Collective in an office management role, and also as the Training Coordinator / Trainer for The Training Collective. This high paced role sees her regularly liaising with trainers in locations across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring their successful on boarding, taking client briefs and ensuring an overall pleasant experience. She is also a social media trainer and hopes to further develop her passion in this field.
Arvind Sardar is a classically-trained graphic designer who transitioned into web design when the internet was still young. Endlessly curious about how things work, he has well-rounded knowledge of modern web technologies needed to create sites that are beautiful, effective and achieves customer goals.
Sarah is a Project Support Officer at The Creative Collective, and is charged with assisting the team to provide a high-quality client experience and supporting account managers on all aspects of prospecting and project management, as well as managing a few key clients social media accounts. She is also currently completing a Bachelor of Communication, majoring in Public Relations at The University of Newcastle.
Blair has been working in the marketing industry since 2014 specialising in account management & sales, data analytics, & strategic portfolio management/project delivery. Blair has been exposed to a range of disciplines & program specific skills including website design, social media advertising, SEO, full use of the Adobe Suite, Google Ads to name a few.
Penny has been working with us for 10 years and over that time has grown a passion for Social Media developing into our resident Social Media Team Manager. She has a unique ability of researching and providing appropriate content and engage with people from all walks of life to create a sense of community and knowledge on all Social Media platforms. She also manages all of our BYO laptop and online trainings. With a wealth of knowledge Penny will be sure to help you get your Social Media off the ground!
Gina is the newest member of The Creative Collective team and has extensive experience in SEO, PPC & Facebook Ads, with SEO being her strong suit. Having worked at multiple agencies and on numerous client campaigns for businesses from many industries, she brings a wealth of experience to the team, and loves working with businesses to help them get better results online.
graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Communication majoring in Journalism and Public Relations and joined our team in 2018. Trish changed careers
Trish was working in a role with Government when she started the Get Up To Speed program in 2012. She was given the option to take a voluntary redundancy and didn’t know what the future held.

Q.Is there any face to face learning as part of this program?
A. The level of face to face learning you receive as part of this program will depend on two things: 1/ Which program package you sign up for (standard and solid include BYO Laptop sessions for example which are in person) and 2/ Where you are based. If a mentor/consultant is located in or near your area, and is happy to meet face to face, this is encouraged. Some of our trainers and consultants travel often too, and there may be occasions where they will be in your area. Generally we anticipate most of the mentoring sessions and consults being held online, apart from people in Newcastle and Sunshine Coast where we have dedicated offices and coming in to meet us in person may be possible.
Q.How much time should I allow for study?
A.The webinar recordings are 1 hour – 1.5 hours long in duration subject to the number of questions we field on the live session. We will give you a range of exercises / homework and let you know if these are essential, recommended, or optional. Some exercises will apply to your industry/stage of business/situation, and others will not. But like anything the more you put into something, the more you will get back. So we would recommend on this basis at least 2 hours per week if you were to study one topic per week which would include a one hour webinar, getting on the Facebook group and studying a module here or there. Subject to the package you sign up to you will also need to allocate time for your initial consult (one off) + your optional bi-monthly or monthly mentoring calls.
Q.What if I sign up and discover the program is not for me?
A.You have a one month cooling off period from signing up. Thereafter your commitment is for the 12 month period. You will either sign up for one year or on a monthly basis.
Q.What if I need help/get stuck on something?
A.No problem! We have a range of support mechanisms in place including:
1/ Our Private Facebook group where you can post questions and past students, current students, past trainers, and our team will respond!
2/ You could save up questions for your mentor sessions if you sign up to our Standard or Solid packages
3/ You could ask questions on the monthly webinars
4/ You can ask questions on the ‘Ask Me Anything’ sessions
5/ You could call our office!

Q.What if I only want to learn some of the topics covered in this program and not all of them?
A.We encourage you to keep an open mind. Many of our students have commented that they ‘thought they already understood a topic’ until they did our program where they gained a much deeper understanding. Many have also found topics that they did not think they would be interested in/find relevant, to be surprisingly relevant. Having said all of this, if you are really looking for learning on specific knowledge, our online modules may be better suited to you and cover the same content in byte size pieces.
Q.Is the program accredited?
A. Though we are not an RTO, we have partnered with a variety of RTOs for some projects, and many of our trainers hold ASQA or industry qualifications, as listed in their bios. However the program is not accredited however when it was first offered, it was funded by Skills Queensland in a collaboration with Broadband Today (an alliance of over 150 councils across Australia & NZ) so it certainly has good roots! We have asked many of our clients whether they would prefer if we were to accredit the course which would involve changing it to align it to curriculum, or whether we should keep it as is being cutting edge and dynamic. The majority said they’d prefer that the program was industry relevant, so for the time being, it’s not accredited.
Q.I’m due to go on an extended holiday/have a baby/have another life event that will prevent me from engaging in the content for a period. Can I pause my monthly payments?
A. In short, no. We are not a gym and from the moment you sign up you will be issued your welcome pack and the value will begin to be delivered. The great news is however that you can access recordings and catch up at a later date, if life does get busy for a while.
